In February, state-owned Coal India Ltd. (CIL) reported a slight 0.9% decrease in coal production over the same period last year. In February of this fiscal year, the company produced 74.1 MT of coal, which was less than the 74.8 MT produced in the same month of the last fiscal year.

In a filing to the BSE, CIL stated that the company's production during the April–February period was 695.3 MT, more than 685.1 MT during the same period last year.

According to a statement from the coal ministry, the total amount of coal produced between April and February was 928.95 million tonnes, representing a 5.73 percent rise over the 878.55 MT of fossil fuel produced during the same time last year.

According to the ministry, the total amount of coal dispatched between April and February increased to 929.41 MT, representing a 5.50 percent increase over the 880.92 MT produced during the same time last year.
