Angul, Odisha: Chairman and Managing Director of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited Shri P K Sinha visits the Talcher Coalfields which is located in Angul district in the Indian state of Odisha, in the valley of the Brahmani. As part of the visit to Talcher, Shri Prabhat Kumar Sinha, CMD Mahanadi Coalfields Limited inspected Lingaraj OCP and reviewed the parameters on production, productivity, OB removal, and offtake to meet the annual targets.

With the highest reserves of the 51 BT, Talcher Coalfield covers an area of 500 km2 (190 sq mi). Talcher coalfield is the largest repository of power grade coal in India. It occupies a basin in the south-eastern part of the Mahanadi Valley belt of Gondwana Basin and covers an area of about 1800 sq. km and is located mainly in the Angul district of Odisha.
Talcher coalfield is strategically located to supply power grade coal to the other part of the country, especially to southern and western India the power houses.
