The inaugural function of “Vivekananda Navaratri 2025” conducted to commemorate the 128th anniversary of the arrival and stay of Swami Vivekananda at Chennai after his eventful visit to the West was held at Vivekananda House at Chennai on 06.02.25.
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLC India Ltd, attended the Vivekananda Navaratri celebrations at Vivekananda House in Chennai as the Guest of Honour. The event, marked the beginning of the celebrations that will continue until February 14, 2025. In his address, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli highlighted the significance of Swami Vivekananda's teachings on love, service, and unity, emphasizing their importance in today's world and their role in guiding nation-building efforts.

Hon’ble Swami Satyajnananandaji Maharaj, President, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai; Chief Guest Hon’ble Chief Justice of Tamil Nadu High Court Justice Thiru. K.R. Sriram; Special Guests Padma Bhusan Dr. Nalli Kuppusamy Chetti ji, Shri. K. N. Ramasamy, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Shri. M. Murali, MD, Krishna Sweets, Shri. M. Varadarajan, Chairman, BPCL and monks of the Ramakrishna Order participated in the function.
In his address, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, said that the occasion celebrated the enduring legacy of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa that inspired and shaped Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai which has profoundly shaped India’s socio-economic landscape, particularly by empowering underprivileged communities through quality education, providing affordable healthcare to millions, driving rural development through sustainable livelihood programs, and offering timely relief during natural disasters. These initiatives have fostered social equity, uplifted marginalized sections, and strengthened the nation’s resilience to challenges.
The gathering of the luminaries of the society itself showcases the real impact the Ramakrishna Math has created on the society. Swami Vivekanands’s timeless wisdom continues to guide and inspire generations, especially the youth of our great nation. Swami Vivekananda was not just a philosopher but a visionary leader who believed that India’s future lay in the strength, energy, and passion of its youth. Today, as our nation strides toward becoming a global leader, his teachings become more relevant than ever, he pointed out.

Swamiji’s teaching reminds us of a deeper purpose — to live for others, to contribute meaningfully to society, and to find joy in giving rather than merely receiving, he stressed. He further said that Swami Vivekananda’s insight becomes even more crucial as we look at India’s vast and diverse fabric. Swamiji’s words guide us toward love, empathy, and inclusivity. As India continues its journey toward becoming a global superpower, we must remember that economic growth alone is not enough. True progress is measured by the happiness, equality, and well-being of all citizens which are possible by Swami Vivekananda’s law of life. On the occasion of commemoration of Vivekananda Navaratri, he called upon all to make a resolution to have empathy, love and inclusivity as the guiding principles of our lives and pledge to embody these values, uplift one another, and strive relentlessly for a better tomorrow.
Following the felicitations by the Special Guests and the Chief Guest Address by Justice Sri K.R. Shriram, Chief Justice, High Court of Madras, a musical concert was presented by Shri Shriram & Group, Chennai.
Earlier, Swami Raghunayakananda, Manager, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai welcomed the gathering while Swami Ishapremananda, In-Charge, Vivekananda House, proposed a Vote of Thanks.
