CMD NCL Honored for the best case study on OB Dump Management

New Delhi: Shri Prabhat Kumar Sinha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has been honored by the prestigious Institute Mining geological and metallurgical institute (MGMI) of the mining area. Paper 'Case Study: Strategic Recovery and Management of Coal Face After Major Dump Performance' was presented by Mr. Sinha in the 'Management of Exclusion Stability' (MES) 2018 seminar organized by MGMI in Kolkata on Saturday. Mr. Sinha has received this honor for writing this best case study related to the manner in which overburden (OB) dump management to be done in unfavourable circumstances in open coal mines. Mr. M.K., General Manager, Khadiya Area, Company Prasad presented the paper in the seminar and received the honor from NCL CMD Mr. Sinha.
 
Recently, Mr. Sinha was honored with the prestigious 'Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) PSE Excellence Award' while leading the Public Sector Undertaking (PSE) for his outstanding contribution in bringing the nation's new height to the economy.
 
Shri Sinha, who has a experience of more than 36 years as a mining engineer in the field of opencast and underground coal mining, took charge as CMD in NCL in December 2017 and since then, the company has touched many new peaks of success. Under his leadership, NCL had made 93.01 million tonnes of coal production and 96.73 million tonnes of dispatch in the last financial year (2017-18), which was not only exceeding the target, but also in the company's history, the production and transmission of coal The record is. Thanks to this contribution, NCL became the only subsidiary of Coal India, which had completed the targets of both coal production and transmission in the previous financial year or earlier.
 
Under the leadership of Mr. Sinha, NCL has targeted the 100 million tonnes of coal production and 100.50 million tonnes of coal in the current financial year, which is the biggest target of the company so far. As far as this goal is secured, NCL will be the third subsidiary of Coal India, which produces 100 million tonnes or more of coal annually. In the current financial year, the company is moving forward with double digit growth in coal production and transmission.
 
Considering the rise in coal production and productivity, as well as the original mantra of promoting social concerns, Mr. Sinha has written a new definition of NCL's contributions to the nation's reform in his tenure. South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) as Director (Technical / Project and Planning) has received the National Mine Safety Award from the President of India. He has been awarded HB Ghosh Memorial Award for Best Time Manager 2012 and 2013 for two consecutive years by the Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI). He has presented technical paper on various national and international forums on the major issues related to coal industry. He is also a member of the renowned institutions of the mining sector MGMI and the Indian Mine Managers Association.
 
Mr. Sinha, who has a broad understanding of the global coal industry, has done the representation of the Indian coal industry in Poland in the year 2008 and the World Mining Congress organized in Istanbul (Turkey) in 2011. They have also visited Sweden, Switzerland and Germany to be sensitive to the global nuances of the coal industry. They have also represented the Indian coal industry in the International Mines Expo held in Las Vegas, USA in September 2016.
