BPCL Signs MoU to Drive Hydrogen Mobility in Kerala
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) partnered with KPIT Technologies partnership support BPCL’s initiative to establish Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) in Kochi and Trivandrum.

New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) partnered with KPIT Technologies to advance hydrogen-based mobility by deploying fuel cell electric buses in Kerala in a move for the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Signed at the Global Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Summit in Kochi, the MoU supports BPCL’s initiative to establish Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) in Kochi and Trivandrum.
These stations will fuel mobility pilots between the two cities, accelerating the transition to sustainable and safe hydrogen-powered transportation.
The MoU was signed by Shri Ranjan Nair, Business Head – Renewable Energy, BPCL, and Shri Ravi Pandit, Chairman – KPIT Technologies, in the presence of senior officials from the Kerala and Central Governments. Following the signing, officials experienced Kerala’s first hydrogen-powered bus, marking a major milestone in clean public transport.
BPCL’s HRS units will produce high-purity green hydrogen (>99.99%), while KPIT’s indigenously developed fuel cell buses will be tested under real-world conditions.
This initiative strengthens Aatmanirbhar Bharat by integrating locally developed electrolyser and fuel cell technology, laying the groundwork for a robust hydrogen mobility ecosystem in India.
