New Delhi: Bandhu Mobile Health Clinic on Wheels for guest labourers (Inter-state migrants) donated and supported by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited was launched on 12 July 2022. Shri Jafar Malik IAS, District Collector, Ernakulam inaugurated the clinic-on-wheels at a function held at Karimugal in the presence of Shri Ajith Kumar K, Executive Director (Kochi Refinery), BPCL, Smt Sonia Murugesan, President, Vadavucode Puthencruz Grama Panchayat, Shri KK Ashokan, Vice President, Shri George Thomas, General Manager (PR & Admn), BPCL, and Adv Anil Kumar KN, Vice Chairperson, Centre for Migration & Inclusive Development.

The clinic is run under the aegis of National Health Mission and is being implemented by NGO Centre for Migration & Inclusive Development. 

District Collector issued the OP tickets to Shri Rashidul Hoque and Shri Gulap Chavan, workers from Orissa and Bengal and inaugurated the customised State-of-the-art medical van, fully equipped to accommodate space for doctor’s diagnosis area, , XRay screen, medical examination cot, pharmacy counter, wash basin, Nurse’s cabin and registration counter at the entrance.  

Prescription forms and OP cards have been customised specifically in a picture pattern for the easy understanding of the labourers.  Rapid testing for Covid, Dengue fever, malaria, etc in addition to basic health checks are available. The work force includes multilingual team with a full time medical officer, nurse, driver cum assistant and pharmacist.  Dr Neema Premkumar examined the patients. 

Bharat Petroleum is supporting health care of inter-state labourers in the district through ‘Bandhu’ mobile health clinics which will operate five days a week from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm at select locations with dense population of inter-state workers. Free diagnosis by Medical practitioners, free medicines, support for follow-up treatments and awareness talks on health and hygiene will be provided.
