BPCL granted an European patent

New Delhi: BPCL has been granted an European (EP) patent, along with Sulzer (formerly GTC Technology US, LLC).

The journey started in 2011 at BPCL Mumbai Refinery with the introduction of the isomerization unit that disrupted the norm by co-producing hexane along with the other motor spirit blend components.

The unit has been co-producing hexane with world-class specifications, from ‘food grade’ hexane to ‘pharmaceutical’ and ‘polymer’ grade hexane, this unit has increased BPCL’s market share.

This unit was also been awarded the ‘BPCL Chairman’s Award' and the ‘Best Innovation in the Refinery Category’ in 2017, by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India.
