This collaboration highlights the commitment of both entities to addressing the critical issue of dam sedimentation by leveraging their combined expertise. The partnership is designed to deliver innovative, “Make in India” solutions that will restore power generation efficiency, extend the lifespan of water conductor systems and turbines, and generate significant savings for the national exchequer.

The solutions developed through this initiative will not only cater to hydroelectric power plants but also hold dual-use potential for addressing broader challenges. These products can help mitigate urban waterlogging during monsoons by swiftly clearing canals and culverts, support dredging and desilting operations in inland waterways, coastal areas, ponds, and lakes, and align with India’s ambitious Maritime Vision 2030 and Sagarmala programs.

Upon successful implementation in pilot projects, the solutions are expected to be replicated across other hydroelectric plants, further strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure. This collaborative effort is set to significantly enhance operational efficiency while contributing to sustainable urban planning by alleviating flooding risks and improving water management systems.

Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Ltd, shared his views, saying, "We are pleased to partner with NHPC Ltd in this ground-breaking initiative aimed at addressing the critical issue of dam sedimentation.
