BEL OL Officer nominated as Non Official Member of high level panel

The functions of the Committee include reviewing the implementation of the Official Language Policy as envisaged in the Constitution of India, OL Policy and rules made thereunder and instructions issued by the Dept. of OL. 

BEL OL Officer nominated as Non Official Member of high level panel

Mr Amit Shah, Hon’ble Minister for Home and Cooperation, has nominated Mr Shrinivas Rao, Asst Manager (Official Language), BEL/Corporate Office, as a Non Official Member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation.

The Chairman of this high level committee is the Hon’ble Minister for Home and Cooperation. The Non Official Members for the committee are nominated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, Kendriya Sachivalaya Hindi Parishad, Akhil Bhartiya Hindi Sanstha Sangh and the Hon’ble Home and Cooperation Minister, GoI.

There are seven Official Members in this committee. The functions of the Committee include reviewing the implementation of the Official Language Policy as envisaged in the Constitution of India, OL Policy and rules made thereunder and instructions issued by the Dept. of OL. 

The Committee is also responsible for rendering advice with regards to increasing the usage of Hindi in day to day activities of the Ministry of Cooperation and its attached and subordinate offices. The tenure of the Committee is three years from the date of its constitution.

Mr Srinivasa Rao is the recipient of Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar (2018-19) and was among the top 10 translators in the All India Kanthasth Competition (Machine Translation Tool) organised by the Dept. of OL, MHA. His first book ‘Paridhan’ was published last year. 

He is a faculty with the Central Translation Bureau and Central Hindi Training Institute, Dept. of OL, and has published more than 100 Hindi articles in national and international journals of repute.
