Earlier the banks were previously closed on March 31 in almost all states to observe Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr), a public holiday in many states across India except Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
However, to ensure that all government transactions for the financial year 2024-25 are accounted for within the same fiscal year, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has requested that banks remain open on March 31, 2025.
