Arnab Maitra Takes Charge as the Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon

NTPC Bongaigaon, the 750 MW flagship power station of NTPC located in Assam, has appointed Shri Arnab Maitra as its new Business Unit Head, effective 04.01.2025. Before this appointment, Shri Maitra served as the Head of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) at NTPC Korba in Chhattisgarh, a station with an impressive generating capacity of 2600 MW. 

A seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience, Shri Maitra joined NTPC as an Executive Trainee (ET) in 1989, after earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from REC, Durgapur. Throughout his career, he has gained significant expertise across NTPC’s prestigious power stations, including Farakka, Vindhyachal, Darlipali, and Korba, where he played a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency and excellence.

Shri Maitra’s long tenure at NTPC has been marked by his dedication to improving O&M performance at various plants, contributing to the company’s growth and success in the power sector. He has also undergone extensive training in diverse areas such as safety, power plant efficiency, preventive vigilance, coal coordination, O&M practices, human resources, disaster management, first aid, CPR certification, and leadership programs, which highlights his commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

In his new role at NTPC Bongaigaon, Shri Maitra will oversee all activities at the plant, which has a generating capacity of 750 MW (3x250 MW). Under his leadership, NTPC Bongaigaon is poised to further enhance its operational capabilities and uphold the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability, while continuing to serve the needs of nearby communities.
