ALIMCO Aids & Assistive Kits for Divyangjan: BEL-Ghaziabad conducts camp to select beneficiaries
The Unit recently organised an Assessment Camp by the panel doctors of ALIMCO to conduct medical examination and shortlist potential beneficiaries to be provided with ALIMCO aids and assistive kits sponsored by BEL.
New Delhi: The Ghaziabad Unit of BEL had in November 2022 signed an MoU with Artificial Limb Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, for assisting disabled people (Divyangjan), facing hurdles in carrying out their day-to-day activities.
The Unit recently organised an Assessment Camp by the panel doctors of ALIMCO to conduct medical examination and shortlist potential beneficiaries to be provided with ALIMCO aids and assistive kits sponsored by BEL.
The camp was formally inaugurated by Mr Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, CMD, BEL, in the presence of Independent Directors Dr Shiv Nath Yadav, Mr Mansukhbhai Shamjibhai Khachariya, Mr Prafulla Kumar Choudhury, Mr Gokulan Bangakandy, Dr Santoshkumar N and Mrs Shyama Singh; Mr Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), additional charge, Director (HR); Mr Damoder Bhattad, Director (Finance); Mr Joydeep Majumder, Unit Head & ED (NCS), Mr Anoop Kumar Rai, Chief Scientist (CRL-Ghaziabad), Mr Jagdish Chand, GM (Radar)/GAD, Mr Chetan Auti Patil, HR Head/GAD; Ms Aparna Tiwari, CSR Head/GAD, senior officers of BEL and ALIMCO, Union representatives and people of nearby villages.
BEL-Ghaziabad has been engaged in meaningful CSR projects in the segments of Education, Sanitation, Vocational Skill Development, etc. In India, the population of registered disabled people as per the 2011 census is 268.1 Lakh. Ghaziabad along has a disabled population of 1,44,305, out of which 79,869 are male and 64,436 female. Many of them are not able to afford assistive devices and guidance of doctors and medical consultants.
Mr Joydeep Majumder, Unit Head & ED (NCS), said on the occasion: “All our CSR initiatives are aimed at creating a positive difference in the life of disabled and other underprivileged people.”
Mr Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, CMD, BEL, said that “BEL has always been on the forefront, be it war, pandemic or any issue of national importance. We want to make a difference in the lives of Divyangjans by supporting them with aids and assistive devices from ALIMCO. I congratulate the Unit CSR team for contributing to various projects for societal development”.
