Time-of-day metering at homes unviable: Experts

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday received an official communication from Delhi government requesting it to look into the proposal for extending time-of-day metering in the domestic category. The government has proposed that TOD could be offered to domestic consumers with a minimum load of 50 kW as this could help towards reducing peak power demand. Experts, however, say it's not a viable proposal.

 

 

 

TOD is currently permitted only in the industrial and commercial categories with a minimum load of 100 kW. It was introduced in Delhi during the tariff announcement last year with a cap of 200 kW which was scaled down to 100 kW in the July tariff announcement.
