SCI Observes SWACHHTA HI SEWA Abhiyan

Mumbai: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) and its branch offices and MTI observed 'Swachhta hi Sewa 2018', as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Government of India envisioned by our Prime Minister, in Powai from 17th September 2018 to 02nd October 2018. Capt. Anoop Kumar Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SCI inaugurated the Pakhwada on 17th September 2018, by administering 'Swachhta Pledge' in Hindi, English and Marathi to all the employees, contract workers, and associated personnel assembled at head office. The Pledge was administered at branch offices at Chennai, Kolkata and Maritime Training Institute, Powai.
 
During the Pakhwada, SCI has drawn up an exhaustive action plan such as Shramdaan by employees, various competitions such as slogan writing, essay writing, tree plantation, cleanliness drive on board vessels, awareness campaign followed by cleanliness drive at Dahanu Village and skit performance by employees. During the period, construction of 10 school toilet(s) each at Rajasthan and Punjab will be completed. Also in the view of the plastic ban in Maharashtra, SCI will be distributing Re-usable cloth shopping bags to its employees, local communities and stakeholders.
 
SCI also plans to support Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for setting up mobile toilets in Navi Mumbai area. The culmination of Abhiyan will be on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 02nd October 2018.
  
SCI is dedicated to supporting the Government of India's mission for Swachh Bharat and has been contributing its resources and efforts for realizing the dream of clean India, and in the continuance of same, “Swachhta hi Sewa” Abhiyan is being observed from 17th September 2018 to 02nd October 2018.
