SAKSHAM Event Organized At Kochi Refinery

Kolkata: Bicycle Mayor of Howrah inspires Kochi Refinery at SAKSHAM event. At the SAKSHAM event organized at Kochi Refinery today, Bicycle Mayor of Howrah, Saurav Chattopadhyay was given a warm welcome on his stop-over at Kochi Refinery enroute the one-man all India Cycling Expedition with a message of Cycle for Environment Care.
 
Mr. A Mohanlal, Chief General Manager (E&A) waved the green flag for his onward journey from Kochi Refinery in the presence of Mr. Murali Madhavan P, Executive Director (Kochi Refinery), Mr. Babu Joseph, Chief General Manager (HSE), Mr. Kurian P Alapatt, General Manager (HR) and Mr. George Thomas, General Manager (PR & Admin) during the first lunch break at Kochi Refinery.
 
ED(KR) congratulated Saurav on his noble mission and wished him all success as he also takes forth the message of Oil & Gas Conservation by being part of the Saksham programme of Kochi Refinery. He pinned the BPCL logo and CGM(HSE) pinned the OGCF badge on Saurav’s jersey as he pledged to take the mission forward. GM(HR) presented him with a bag of nutritional snacks to keep him energised on his journey.
 
A software engineer by profession, Saurav is an active contributor to the endeavors of Kolkata Cycle Samaj, with a vision to promote cycling. He is a member of the Bicycle Mayor & Leaders Network, which is a global initiative to accelerate the progress of cycling in cities and help get another one billion people onto bikes. Bicycle Mayors are catalysts who bring together the public and private realms to uncover the massive economic, health, and environmental benefits of increased cycling capacity. BYCS, based out of Amsterdam – which initiated and coordinates the network – is now working with local partners to set up Bicycle Mayors in cities around the world. Together, they are using the bicycle to address pollution crises, tackle road deaths, break down social barriers and enable people to access essential services for the first time.
 
At the SAKSHAM event today, Kochi Refinery officials came in from various departments to witness the inspirational moment and cheer Bicycle Mayor Saurav who started his journey from Kolkatta 52 days back and reached Kochi late last night after cycling a distance of 5000 kms. He moves on to Thiruvananthapuram today to touch Kanyakumari and then proceed for his journey back to Kolkatta.
