Promoting Women Empowerment and Employment generating vocational skills as a CSR intervention of Indraprastha Gas Limited
New Delhi: Promoting Women Empowerment and Employment generating vocational skills, as a CSR intervention, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has been empowering rural women from villages in Noida & Greater Noida as Sewing Machine Operators, since past 3 years. So far, over 300 women have been trained and several of them have got the placement opportunities with leading garment factories or have become self-employed, hence empowering them and improving their family’s financial conditions. Amity Humanity Foundation (AHF), under the aegis of Amity Education Group is the implementing partner in this project.
This year also, under this project, another 150 women and 150 men belonging to underprivileged strata of society will be trained as Advanced Sewing Machine Operators.
An agreement was signed last week between IGL and AHF for implementing this project for another one year, in the presence of Shri E.S. Ranganathan, Managing Director, IGL. Shri Amit Garg, Director (Commercial), IGL signed the agreement from Indraprastha Gas Limited and Dr. Shyamalendu Niyogi, Advisor, AHF signed the agreement from Amity Humanity Foundation.
