Northern Coalfields Limited organizes a mega summer camp Aarohan for children
New Delhi: "No matter how much I scold him, he was addicted to playing games on mobile. But ever since he attended Aarohan, he is transformed. He loves outdoor games now. Not only has he started going to the ground for the love of sports but has also become more disciplined in his approach” shares Sneha, mother of 9-years old Ahan.
What Sneha faced before Aarohan is the plight of most young parents these days- kids addicted to mobile phones. Children stay indoors for most of the time with little to no physical activity. The problem usually aggravates during the vacations.
Northern Coalfields Limited has come up with an interesting intervention. The company, in May-June months of the year, organizes a mega summer camp ‘Aarohan’ for children. Conducted on ‘open-to-all’ and ‘free-for-all' format, the camp offers multiple sports and activities in which children register and spend eventful vacations. Aarohan-2019 witnessed overwhelming participation from as much as around 2800 children from across the coal areas and units of NCL. Several children from adjacent areas and villages also participated in the camp.
