Northern Coalfields Limited bags Apex India Occupational Health and Safety Award

Goa: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has received prestigious ‘Apex India Occupational Health and Safety Award’. Jhingurda coal area of the company has received the award for ensuring excellent workplace health and safety and for maintaining the longest accident-free period in metal and mining sector. Not a single fatal accident has taken place in Jhingurda coal area in last 18 years since 2001 thereby making it one of the leading coal mining area to ensure longest stretch of accident-free duration in the metals and mining sector.
 
Colliery Manager Shri Pawan Kumar and Environment Officer Shri Mohit Gupta received the award on behalf of Jhingurda at ‘Apex India Excellence Award 2019’ ceremony held in Goa on Tuesday. The award was conferred by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and Minister of State for Defence Shri Shri Shripad Yesso Naik.
 
CMD NCL, Shri PK Sinha, Director(Technical/Operations) NCL Shri Gunadhar Pandey, Director (Finance & Personnel) NCL Shri Nag Nath Thakur and Director (Technical/Project & Planning) NCL Shri M.K.Prasad congratulated team Jhingurda for the achievement and hoped that the coal area will continue to remain accident-free years over years establishing an unbreakable record.
 
Notably, Jhingurda coal area of NCL has been assigned the target of producing and despatching 2.10 million tonnes of coal in FY 2019-20. Recorded up to September 25, the area has produced 1.24 million tonnes and despatched 1.42 million tonnes of coal
