NLC India Ltd.’s Lignite Mine- I recognized with coveted National Safety Award consecutively FY 2018,2019 & 2020 for achieving Lowest Injury Frequency Rate (LIFR) in Winner Category.

The Neyveli Mine-I & II of NLC India Limited has bagged four National Safety Awards for the year 2018,2019 and 2020, instituted by Union Ministry of Labour & Employment, and the awards were  presented by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav at a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 08.03.2022.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India is recognizing the Indian Mines for its safety practices and conferred National Safety Awards every year.  

The Directorate General of Mines Safety, (DGMS) functioning under the Ministry is enforcing the Safety practices and evaluating the Mines for the National Awards from 1983 onwards. These awards are presented to the eligible Mines annually.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the award presentation ceremony was not organised for the past two years.  

In this juncture, the National Safety Award Presentation ceremony for the years 2018,2019 and 2020 was held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 08.03.2022. 

Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour & Employment Shri Bhupender Yadav has presented the Awards to the winners.

While Mine-I of Neyveli received the National Safety Award (Mines) – Winner for the year 2018, 2019 and 2020 under the category “Lowest Injury Frequency Rate (LIFR)” per Million cubic metre of output, Mine-II of Neyveli was awarded National Safety Award (Mines) – Winner under the category “Longest Accident Free Period (LAFP)” for the year 2020.

Shri Suresh Chandra Suman, Executive Director (Mines), Shri Ashok Dattatrya Keote, CGM/Mine-I,  Shri A. Rajasekhara Reddy, CGM/Mine-II and Shri Sumesh Kumar, CM/Safety/Mine-I received the Awards from the Hon’ble Union Minister on behalf of NLCIL. 

Shri P. Barathithasan, Shri M. Suresh, Shri S. Elumalai and Shri Elupula Naresh, employees of NLCIL also joined with the senior officials of NLCIL during the occasion.

Shri Rameswar Teli, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Shri Prabhat Kumar, Director General of Mines Safety, Government of India, Senior officials from Ministry and Directorate witnessed the event. 

Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL and Functional Directors of the Company appreciated the officials and employees of Mine-I and Mine-II for bagging the prestigious Awards.
