CMD SJVN Met Prime Minister of Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal): Shri Nand Lal Sharma Chairman & Managing Director SJVN Limited along with Shri Satish Sharma, CEO, SJVN Arun 3 Power Development Company (SAPDC) met Prime Minister of Nepal Shri K. P. Sharma Oli and Finance Minister of Nepal Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada yesterday in Kathmandu.  
 
Shri Nand Lal Sharma CMD, SJVN apprised Prime Minister and Minister with the progress of 900 MW Arun3 Hydro Electric Project. Shri Sharma also requested the Prime Minister for considering SJVN for development of more Hydro Projects in Arun River Basin and elsewhere in Nepal. Prime Minister was very satisfied with the pace of ongoing activities at the Project sites and exhibited keen interest to visit Project sites of Arun 3 Hydro Electric Project.
 
Shri Sharma, CMD, SJVN extended warm-hearted invitation to Prime Minister for visiting the Project sites of Arun 3 Hydro Electric Project. He also requested Prime Minister to visit both of the operational Hydro Power Stations of SJVN, i.e. 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station as well as areas around these projects to have firsthand experience of the development, which has resulted due to the construction of these Projects. These Hydro Projects has contributed immensely in the improvement of infrastructural & socio-economic development of areas around the project.
 
Shri Nand Lal Sharma told that, SJVN Arun 3 Power Development Company (SAPDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN limited is executing 900 MW Arun3 Hydroelectric Project in Nepal. Prime Minister of India & Prime Minister of Nepal jointly laid the Foundation of SJVN’s 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project on 11th May last year. The total project cost is estimated to be INR 7000 crores (NPR 11,200 crores), which includes both generation and transmission part. He further shared that around 3500 persons would get direct employment during construction of the project which also includes transmission component of the project. 
 
The Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project (900 MW) is located on Arun River in Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Nepal. The Run-of-River scheme envisages 70 meters high concrete gravity dam and Head Race Tunnel (HRT) of 11.74 Kilo Meters with underground Power House containing four generating units of 225 MW each.
