CII ITC Sustainability Award 2017
Hyderabad: CII – ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development has recognized NMDC’s CSR by conferring ‘CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2017 – Commendation for significant Achievement’ under CSR Category.
It is a matter of pride for NMDC to be recognized for its CSR efforts from among forty (40) applicant organizations.
The Award was received by Ms. Usha Singh, GM (BD&CP) and Shri P. Shyam, DGM (CSR) on behalf of NMDC at a function organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at New Delhi on 12.12.2017.
Shri N. Baijendra Kumar, IAS, CMD of NMDC congratulated all the employees and said NMDC has always been in the forefront be it mining, CSR or economic development of backward regions of its activities.
NMDC’s CSR Story is as old as the Company itself and has spawned several success stories in its decade's long history. Some of the recent success stories, which have had a positive impact on the life and living conditions of the people residing in the vicinity of its Projects are listed hereunder:
Shiksha Sahayog Yojana:
The scheme provides a scholarship to enable SC/ST students from Bastar Division from Chhattisgarh to enable them to pursue education beyond VIII standard.
NMDC has adopted the process of direct crediting of scholarships into the Bank/ Post Office accounts of the beneficiary students way back in 2009-10.
Balika Shiksha Yojana:
The Scheme sponsors tribal girls from BPL families of Bastar Division to pursue Nursing Courses and address the issue of acute shortage of Medical & Paramedical Staff in Bastar Division.
Education City:
NMDC had partnered with Govt. of Chhattisgarh to create a hub of educational facilities in the security-sensitive Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh and provide a conducive environment to the local children for pursuing education. The initiative has been found worthwhile for a visit by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
