78th Independence Day Celebrated at Braithwaite & Co. Limited
Kolkata: Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL), a Miniratna-1 Company under the Ministry of Railways, celebrated the 78th Independence Day with pomp and grandeur at its Kolkata Works premises and Corporate Office at Hide Road. Md. Asad Alam, Chairman and Managing Director of the Company, hoisted the National Flag.
On this occasion, addressing the gathering, Md. Asad Alam, Chairman and Managing Director, said, “Today is a reminder to us that freedom is not only a right but also a responsibility. Braithwaite is writing new chapters of success day by day. Be it the manufacture of wagons for Indian Railways or the initiative to make the country self-reliant in container manufacturing, BCL has always been with the country in its sustainable development.
This year our endeavour is to make the company self-reliant for bogies by increasing the foundry capacity of the Angus Works unit. The turnover of the company has grown steadily over the last few years, and I hope that with the efforts of all of us, we will achieve the expected growth this year as well.”

The company is implementing dozens of different projects in more than fifteen states including West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. This success is just a beginning. To achieve our goals and exceed them, we must work towards continuous improvement.”

Senior officials, trade-union leaders and employees of all levels participated in the Independence Day celebrations in large numbers. At Angus Works, Bhadreswar, Shri Pramod Kumar Sinha, GM (I/C)-AW hoisted the National Flag and addressed the employees. At Wagon Repair Shop, Vadlapudi, Shri Saroj Kumar Senapati, Chief Project Officer, hoisted the National Flag.
