JSW Energy Receives Letter of Intent for 1,500 MW, 12,000 MWh Pumped Hydro Storage

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 18.2 GW comprising of 7.7 GW operational, 2.1 GW under construction across the wind, thermal, and hydro, and an RE pipeline of 8.3 GW.

 New Delhi: JSW Neo Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited has received a Letter of Intent (‘LoI’) for procurement of 1,500 MW / 12,000 MWh of pumped hydro energy storage from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (‘MSEDCL’).

The Bhavali Pumped Hydro Project, situated in the Nashik and Thane districts, will feature an 8-hour discharge capacity with a maximum of 5 hours of continuous discharge. The LoI is for providing energy storage capacity for 40 years.

After this, the company’s locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 16.2 GWh which includes pumped hydro storage capacity of 14.4 GWh and battery energy storage capacity of 1.8 GWh.

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 18.2 GW comprising of 7.7 GW operational, 2.1 GW under construction across the wind, thermal, and hydro, and an RE pipeline of 8.3 GW.

The company also has 16.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects. The Company aims to reach 20 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity before 2030. JSW Energy has set an ambitious target of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
