Robert Jerard Ravi gets three months extension as CMD of BSNL, MTNL
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended Robert Jerard Ravi's additional role as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BSNL and MTNL for another three months, pending approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). This update was disclosed in a regulatory filing on Tuesday.
Ravi, who is currently serving as Deputy Director General (Standards Research and Innovation), assumed the additional responsibilities of leading these telecom public sector undertakings on July 13, 2024, after the government decided not to extend the tenure of former CMD PK Purwar.
According to the latest order from MTNL, Ravi’s extended tenure will now run from January 15, 2025, to April 14, 2025, or until further notice, whichever comes first. The order emphasizes the importance of ensuring that key leadership positions in BSNL, MTNL, and BBNL do not remain vacant.
