Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in India is responsible for the formulation of policies for consumer cooperatives and protection, consumer welfare fund, and legal metrology, among others. The ministry is also involved in the prevention of improper use of emblems and names and has various divisions including international cooperation, vigilance, and consumer co-operatives.

The department also oversees various acts and rules such as the Consumer Protection Act, Legal Metrology Act, and the Bureau of Indian Standards Act. Additionally, it is engaged in price monitoring, distribution of essential commodities, and the implementation of schemes for strengthening price monitoring cells in states and union territories.

The ministry's website is designed, developed, and hosted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and is managed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India.
