DAC clears procurement worth Rs 54,000 cr to enhance defence system
The Defence Ministry claims that 1350 HP engines will be bought to update the present 1000 HP engine for the T-90 Tanks for the Indian Army.

The government has given the nod for the procurement of 1350 HP engines for T-90 tanks, Varunastra Torpedoes and Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft systems.
This approval was given during the Defence Acquisition Council meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The procurement will cost over 54 thousand crore rupees.
The Defence Ministry claims that 1350 HP engines will be bought to update the present 1000 HP engine for the T-90 Tanks for the Indian Army. Particularly in high-altitude settings, this will improve the battlefield mobility of modern tanks.

The DAC approved Varunastra Torpedoes (War) procurement for the Indian Navy. Built by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Varunastra Torpedo is an indigenous development ship-launched anti-submarine torpedo. Induction of this torpedo would improve the Navy's capacity against underwater dangers of enemies.
For the Indian Air Force, the procurement of Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft Systems was approved by the DAC. These systems can change the complete spectrum of warfare and exponentially increase the combat potential of every other weapon system.
