Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment.

Shri Rattan Lal Kataria is an Indian politician from Haryana. He became the Minister of State for Jal Shakti on 31 May 2019. He is a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. He got elected to 16th Lok Sabha from Ambala as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 612,121 votes while total vote polled was 1,220,121 by defeating INC candidate Raj Kumar Balmiki. Previously, he was elected to 13th Lok Sabha from Ambala as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was born in 6 September, 1951, and educated at Kurukshetra University.

In May 2019, Kataria became Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment.

He was a recipient of award from first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru at Teen Murti in 1963 as a Child Artist.

  • 2019:- He contested and won Ambala Lok Sabha constituency for a second consecutive term, where he defeated Selja of INC by a margin of over 200000 votes. 
  • 2019:- He was appointed MoS ministry of Jal Shakti; and MoS ministry of Social Justice and empowerment. 
  • 2014:- After two consecutive failures, Kataria won the 16th Lok Sabha elections by defeating Raj Kumar Balmik of INC by a margin of 3,40074 votes. 
  • 1999:- He was elected in 13th Lok Sabha from Ambala where he defeated Phool Chand Mullana of INC by a margin of 1,24,478 votes. However, he lost two consecutive elections in Ambala in 2004 and 2009 to Selja of INC. 
  • 1996:- Kataria again faced defeat in the aseembly election against SAP's Banta Ram who secured a 36% vote share.
