Murlidhar Mohol, who has been elected for the first time from the Pune Lok Sabha seat, on Sunday took oath as the Minister of State in the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. Mohol is the second Lok Sabha MP from Pune to become a minister in the central government after more than 38 years.

The 49-year-old BJP leader, who defeated Ravindra Dhangekar of the Congress in the recent Lok Sabha elections, is the sixth Puneite to make it to the Union Ministry. He is the second Lok Sabha MP from Pune city, after Congress’ Vithalrao Gadgil, to become a minister in the Union government.
