RailTel and NBCC Signs MoU for Data Centre Projects in India and Overseas

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways, hassigned a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Ltd., a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, for strategic collaboration in the development and execution of Data Centre projects both in India and abroad. The MoU was signed in the presence of Sh. Sanjai Kumar, CMD/RailTel, Sh. K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD/NBCC, Sh. Raj Kumar Chaudhary CMD NHPC, Dr. Devesh Tyagi CEO NIXI, Sh. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Addl. CP Delhi, Sh. Rajeev Ranjan Retd IAS (TN) and senior officials from their organization.

Under the terms of the MoU, RailTel and NBCC will work jointly to execute Data centre projects from concept to commissioning, combining their core competencies and operational strengths.

RailTel will be responsible for planning, designing, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and operations & maintenance of IT-related infrastructure for Data Centres, including computing hardware, security systems, network systems, disaster recovery planning, and more. NBCC will provide comprehensive project management services for the construction of Data Centre buildings and associated civil and passive infrastructure.

This includes contract management, construction supervision, cost control, quality assurance, and project handover activities.

The collaboration also envisions joint development of IT and IT-enabled service (ITES)infrastructure projects in international market,s including, but not limited to, Vietnam, Mauritius, UAE, and African countries.

Each project will be governed by a separate agreement and executed with mutual consent, allowing for the inclusion of third-party partners where necessary. This MoU establishes a strategic framework for cooperation, enabling both organisations to leverage each other’s strengths for shared growth and innovation in the fast-evolving digital infrastructure domain.
