BHEL signs strategic MoU with Nuovo Pignone to revamp fertilizer sector
BHEL signs 10-year MoU with Italy’s Nuovo Pignone on Apr 9, 2025, to jointly revamp compressor trains in India’s fertiliser sector.

New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), a state-run firm, has announced that it has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italy-based Nuovo Pignone International s.r.l. to address compressor revamp opportunities in India’s fertiliser sector jointly.
The MoU, which was signed on April 9, 2025, will remain in effect for 10 years unless extended by mutual consent.
Under the agreement, BHEL will act as the lead bidder for targeted compressor train revamp projects in India, while Nuovo Pignone will serve as the nominated vendor with a defined scope of work.

According to the exchange filing, the tie-up does not involve any equity transfer or formation of a joint venture, and no upfront consideration has been exchanged.
Furthermore, the collaboration is expected to help BHEL tap into compressor revamp projects with an estimation of around 50% business share in financial terms, improving its presence in the fertilizer sector’s repair and maintenance segment.
