WCL concludes Workshop on ‘Sustainable Initiatives in Coal India Limited’
Environmental protection is possible only through collective efforts: DK Solanki - Deputy Secretary (SDC/JT/LA&IR), Ministry of Coal.
Nagpur: The workshop on "Sustainable Initiatives In Coal India Limited" organized by Western Coalfields Limited (WECOL) was concluded on 10.07.2024 at Hotel Centre Point, Nagpur.
The Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony of the workshop was Shri D.K. Solanki, Deputy Secretary (SDC/JT/LA&IR), Ministry of Coal, Government of India and Shri J.P. Dwivedi, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL. Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director Finance, WCL, Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, CVO, WCL and C. Jayadev, General Manager (Environment), CIL were present as special guests.
The Chief Guest, Shri D.K. Solanki, in his address said that environmental protection will be possible only through collective efforts of all. He appreciated the environmental conservation work being done by WCL.

Dwivedi explained in detail about the efforts being made by WCL for environmental conservation. He said that environmental conservation has always been an important issue for WCL. He assured the attendees that along with playing its important role in fulfilling the coal requirements of the country, WCL will also make its active contribution in environmental conservation. He emphasized on the use of new technology and new equipment in the company for environmental conservation. He said that today's workshop will prove to be a pathfinder in the interest of environmental conservation.

Welcome and introductory address was given by Shri A.K. Dixit, General Manager (Environment). In this workshop, which started with the Coal India song, a video presentation based on the work being done by CIL in environmental conservation was made. The vote of thanks was given by General Manager (Land and Revenue) Mr. Milind Deshkar and the program was conducted by Senior Manager (Public Relations) Mr. Ashish Tayal. Officials of all the subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited and WCL Environment Department and officials of NGOs working in environmental protection were prominently present in the workshop.
After the workshop, a visit to Mahatma Gandhi Eco Park and RO Plant built in WCL's Nagpur area was organized for the participants.
