The coal production of 42.40 Lac MT in the first quarter of FY 22-23 was 61% more than the production of 26.40 Lac MT achieved in the same period last year.

NEW DELHI- NTPC Coal Mining has opened this year’s 1st quarter coal production on a very high note. The three operational coal mines viz. Pakri-Barwadih (Jharkhand), Dulanga (Odisha) and Talaipalli (Chhattisgarh) have contributed to achieve this remarkable feat of 42.40 Lac Metric Tonnes(Lac MT) of coal production.
This coal production of 42.40 Lac MT in the first quarter of FY 22-23 was 61% more than the production of 26.40 Lac MT achieved in the same period last year.
Moreover, the production of coal during the month of Jun’22 was 15.55 Lac MT, a phenomenal rise of 101% over the coal production of 7.73 Lac MT achieved in Jun’21.
Along with this coal production, NTPC has also achieved the overburden removal of 106 Lakh cubic meter and coal despatch of 41.74 Lac MT to NTPC power plants, in this quarter.
NTPC has started mining operations in its Chatti-Bariatu coal mine (Jharkhand) and has also touched coal on 21st May’22. Coal from this mine will be supplied to Barh Power Station of NTPC. Mining operation contract for Talaipalli (West Pit),Chhattisgarh was awarded on 30th Jun '22 and mining operations shall commence soon.
For consultancy and project management services for its coal mines, NTPC Coal Mining Division has signed an MOU with MECON on 2nd Jun '22.
Being a signatory to the prestigious United Nations Global Compact’s CEO Water Mandate, NTPC has engaged National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee for Rainwater harvesting potential assessment and design of Rainwater harvesting structure at Talaipalli township area and water positivity in 2 villages around township.
Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi has developed & procured Safety Reflective Jackets with LED lights through MSME vendor in Jun '22, to ensure improved visibility for personnel deployed in mines and siding during night hours. The safety jackets were distributed among the workforce in coal mines.
