NHPC targets 16700 MW capacity by 2030 for RE development
This initiative will support India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel electricity capacity goal.
On September 16, 2024, at the 4th Global RE-INVEST event in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, R.K. Chaudhary, CMD of NHPC, presented Letters of Commitment to Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy. The letters outlined NHPC's targets for developing renewable energy in India. The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
The Letters of Commitment asserts NHPC’s aim to install 16,700 MW of renewable energy and produce 500 MT/year of Green Hydrogen by 2030.

The development of the proposed projects is likely to create more than 20,000 job opportunities during their construction and operation.
NHPC will also fulfill its responsibility to contribute to the local economy and communities by implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
