India and UAE harness strong tie for upcoming years

The Indian government's stance on international collaborations, seeking to develop over a long age period, where India is keen to show a strong positive interest towards some chosen nations, especially from West Asia and Central West Asia. The best among them is the UAE, which is having the most special place in terms of foreign cooperation, regional security, goods trading etc. 

In 2017, the two nations signed an agreement on a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership [CSP]. The bilateral ties are growing deeper and stronger over time as the UAE is considered to be the highest priority for India as per diplomatic leadership.

The strong ties will be quantitatively deep down to enhance transcendence to a truly multilateral level in 2023 with the announcement of the strategically important India-Middle East Economic Corridor and the expansion of the BRICS grouping to introduce the Gulf nation [UAE] into their group. The new member nation will become part of BRICS, with effect from January 1, 2024. The cooperation between India and the UAE on multilateral platforms such as the G20 and BRICS had evolved significantly with strong climate commitments made in COP28 in Dubai. 

The two nations affirmed the Joint commitments to combat extremism and terrorism both , at cross border inter regional and international levels. The COP28 conference was recently concluded last month where new global strategy was initiated to reduce climate issues and carbon output growth.

As per the defence cooperation, the two nations promised to stand by each other for any urgencies. The two-week joint military exercise is going to be commenced tomorrow onwards, named ' Desert Cyclone' 2024. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability by learning and sharing best practices in Urban Operations. Accordingly, bilateral defence interaction between India and UAE has been eventually growing as per the other aspects of the bilateral relationships.

Besides this, In July, a rupee settlement agreement with the UAE was done making IOCL [Indian Oil Corporation Limited] pay in rupees for one million barrels of crude oil from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The Gulf nation is considered to be the third largest importer of oil barrels for India after Russia and Iraq.
