New Delhi: The primary role of language is communication; however, its crucial function is to preserve culture. Hindi serves as a vital carrier of Indian heritage. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of MIDHANI, emphasized, “The Honorable President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister are the champions of Indian languages. By promoting Hindi across all platforms, we are advancing India’s journey toward self-reliance. The Hindi language can significantly contribute to this vision and provide us with strength.”

The closing ceremony of Hindi Diwas Celebration 2024 took place today at Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a Ministry of Defence enterprise, under Dr. Jha’s leadership. He highlighted the media significant role in promoting Hindi, noting its increasing presence on social media, which continues to grow rapidly.

The chief guest, Dr. Bela Kakar, Deputy Director and In-charge, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI stated that on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the official language, the Honorable Home Minister has elevated the status of Indian languages by establishing the Indian Language Section. “Hindi is a bouquet of Indian languages,” she explained, emphasizing their interconnectedness as siblings and allies. “These languages are the strength of Hindi and contribute to its status as a pan-Indian language.” She also noted that the Department of Official Language is leveraging AI for Hindi training, allowing management to request—and even mandate—work in Hindi, as all employees in Union of India offices are trained and proficient in the language.

During the ceremony, messages from the Home Minister and Defence Minister were read by Nishank Kumar Jain, DGM (Titanium), and Manan Jethwani, Deputy Manager (CS), respectively. The cultural program featured Hindi songs performed by students from BPDAV School, poetry recitations by MIDHANI employees, and performances of Hindi film songs. Awards, including cash prizes, were presented to students and employees who excelled in various competitions such as Hindi song singing, vocabulary, poem recitation, essay writing, typing, and quizzes. The MIDHANI department that performed outstandingly in the competitions received a rolling trophy as part of the MIDHANI Rajbhasha Garima Puraskar.

The program, expertly conducted by Dr. B. Balaji, Manager of the Hindi Section and Corporate Communication, began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and concluded with the national anthem. Junior executive Ratna Kumari played an integral role in the successful organization of the event.
