SOBHA City, Sector 108 Gurgaon comes together to celebrate auspicious Chhath Puja, a festival dedicated to the Sun God, with full vehemence.

The Chhath celebrations committee conceptualized the entire celebration to be ecofriendly, promote the local community and harmony in all faith and believes. The theme “Devotion, Harmony of faith & believes and Environmental responsibility can go hand in hand” was the buzzword. Mr Ravindra Kumar Verma & Mr Mrityunjay Singh senior members of organizing committee took the lead and supported by ever-willing Mrs Sahodra Mishra. Explanatory notes and teasers were issued daily to bring awareness about various facets of Chhath puja for all. People came to know many aspects of the puja and shared them with others.
The society's efforts paid off, as the entire celebration was conducted without the use of single-use plastics. Vraaties were seen carrying traditional Wooden Sindoora on earthen tray, decorated with natural materials like flowers and leaves, procured from local artisans; biodegradable plates, cloth bags, paper packets and earthen pots were used for distribution of prasad and other material.

Another highlight of this celebration was the active involvement of children, ensuring the tradition's continuity. "We wanted to instill environmental values and cultural heritage in our children," said Mrs Veena RK. "They're the future custodians of our traditions." Gurbani Singh a 13 year girl led a team of her young friends and helped the community in making traditional Chhath sweet Thekua
