Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), in collaboration with Indian Railways and Chennai Port Authority, inaugurated the “TVS Go Green Express,” a multi-modal logistics initiative. The first train transported 29 FEUs (58 TEUs) of TVS Motors containers from Jolarpet to Kamarajar Port, marking a significant step toward eco-friendly and efficient container transport.

The train was received at Kamarajar Port by Mr. Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, along with other dignitaries, including Mr. Viswanathan, IAS, Dy Chairman, Chennai Port, Ms. J P Irene Cynthia, IAS, MD of Kamarajar Port Ltd., Mr. K Srinivasan, CGM/CONCOR, and Mr. Kenny, Terminal Head, Adani Ports, Ennore. A total of 29 FEUs (58 TEUs) of TVS Motors containers, destined for African nations, were loaded with auto commodities averaging 20 MT per container.

This initiative marks a milestone in improving container transportation between Chennai Ports and regions like Northern Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, and Southern Karnataka. It aims to enhance port efficiencies by ensuring congestion-free entry into ports while facilitating faster logistics solutions.

The movement incorporated First Mile connectivity using CONCOR-owned LNG vehicles, exemplifying the government’s commitment to green logistics. The combination of road (LNG vehicles) and rail transport highlights CONCOR’s multi-modal logistics capabilities.

The “TVS Go Green Express” represents a leap toward sustainable logistics, enhancing trade efficiency and environmental responsibility. By combining rail and LNG-based road transport, CONCOR underscores its commitment to providing cost-effective, congestion-free solutions, aligning with India’s green logistics goals while improving connectivity and port operations.
