BPCL granted an European patent
By installing a divided wall column in this unit, BPCL Mumbai Refinery has managed to save up to 27% more energy.
New Delhi: BPCL has been granted an European (EP) patent, along with Sulzer (formerly GTC Technology US, LLC).
The journey started in 2011 at BPCL Mumbai Refinery with the introduction of the isomerization unit that disrupted the norm by co-producing hexane along with the other motor spirit blend components.
By installing a divided wall column in this unit, BPCL Mumbai Refinery has managed to save up to 27% more energy.

This unit was also been awarded the ‘BPCL Chairman’s Award' and the ‘Best Innovation in the Refinery Category’ in 2017, by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India.
