BPCL announced to shut down half of its Mumbai refinery

BPCL, one of India's largest oil refining companies, has announced that it will shut down half of its Mumbai refinery for a month starting from September 21. The shutdown is part of a planned maintenance activity aimed at ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the refinery.
The Mumbai refinery has a capacity of 240,000 barrels per day and is a significant contributor to India's fuel supply. The shutdown is expected to impact the availability of diesel and petrol in the region, leading to a potential increase in fuel prices.
According to BPCL officials, the shutdown will involve the maintenance of several units, including the crude distillation unit, the hydrocracker unit, and the catalytic reformer unit. The maintenance activity will include the replacement of old and worn-out equipment, as well as the cleaning and inspection of critical components.
