Agra Metro Rail Project: Achieved milestone in just 77 days

New Delhi/Agra: Agra Metro Rail Project achieved a significant milestone as TBM 'Yamuna' completed the 440-meter-long tunnel connecting the upcoming underground Jama Masjid metro station with Agra Fort metro station in just 77 days, making it the fastest breakthrough achieved by any metro project in the country.

The tunneling work on the priority corridor's 3 km underground section between Taj Mahal and Jama Masjid started in February 2023. The tunneling work linking Ramlila Maidan with Agra Fort Metro Station as part of the Agra Metro Rail Project has also been completed. 

The machine built 239 rings (334m) from the crossover at Ramleela Maidan to Agra Fort in 77 days. The 29.4 km Agra Metro has two corridors with 27 stations. The commissioning of the Priority Corridor is expected to meet the August 2024 deadline.

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) officials claim it to be a major breakthrough in record time, and they are committed to giving the people of Agra a world-class metro by March 2024.
