NLCIL Observes 16th Public Sector Day
The Public Sector Day is observed every year on 10th April, under the aegis of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) - the apex professional body representing the Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs).

The 16th Public Sector Day was observed by NLCIL today (10.04.2025) at a function held at the Corporate Office, Neyveli. Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL hoisted the PSU flag and the NLCIL flag in the presence of Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and P&P (Addl.Charge), Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power) and Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL, senior officials, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Engineers and Officers’ Associations, Welfare Associations, Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) and employees.
The Public Sector Day is observed every year on 10th April, under the aegis of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) - the apex professional body representing the Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs), with the objective of creating awareness among the general public about the role and sustained contribution rendered by Central Public Sector Enterprises in scripting the ‘Growth Story’ of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, took pride in the fact that, just as the soldiers are taking care of the Nation’s security, the Public Sector is taking care of the Nation’s Energy security, besides several other sectors. He also said that from a mere 5 PSUs in the first five-year plan with an investment outlay of Rs.29 crores, the number of PSUs has now gone manifold to over 400 PSUs with a huge investment outlay.

While NLCIL achieved power generation of 6 GW in 68 years, it has now fixed a target of 20 GW by 2030 out of which 10 GW would be Renewable Energy. To achieve this huge target, dedication and commitment is required from all, CMD added. Concluding the event, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli expressed confidence saying that “Team NLCIL” would continue to strive further and take the Company on a high growth trajectory.
