IREDA organises Friendly T-20 Cricket Match with DPE at Talkatora Stadium

New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) organised a Twenty-20 cricket match with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) at the Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on March 3, 2023. Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, Joint Secretary, DPE was the Chief Guest on this occasion.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain emphasized the importance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle and building strong relationships. He praised IREDA for exponential performance during last three years in most of the parameters. He also appreciated IREDA’s various initiatives towards mental and physical health of its human resources and the efforts made in organizing a sports event on a short notice despite a smaller manpower organisation. 

Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA, expressed his gratitude to DPE officials and players for their participation and support in making the event a success. He emphasized that such events not only promote fitness but also foster a sense of togetherness among employees, leading to better team spirit and productivity. 

In an exciting cricket match, DPE won by a margin of 17 runs. DPE batted first and scored 149 runs in 20 overs while losing eight wickets. Shri Neeraj Saroha was the top scorer for DPE with 42 runs. Shri Kailash Bhandari, Deputy Director, DPE, also played as an opening batsman.
IREDA, while chasing the target of 150, started well and kept the scoreboard moving. They eventually scored 132 runs in their 20 overs, which was 17 runs short of the target. Shri Arjun Kumar was top scorer from IREDA with 31 runs.

The aim of the match was to promote an active lifestyle and sportsmanship among employees of both organizations. The match was played between two teams comprising employees from IREDA and DPE. Employees from the two organisations cheered on their teams throughout the day-night match.
