BHEL secures EPC contract for Thermal Power Plant

The project will cost around Rs 11,800 crore and is located at the Hasdeo Thermal Power Station in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), a leading PSU giant has announced that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL) for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) package of the 2x660 MW Korba West Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STTP). After the announcement, the shares of the company are trading higher in the current session.

The project will cost around Rs 11,800 crore and is located at the Hasdeo Thermal Power Station in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

The project scope includes electrical, Control & Instrumentation (C&I), and Balance of Plant (BoP) packages as well as the delivery of supercritical equipment including the boiler, turbine, generator, and related auxiliaries. BHEL will also be in charge of civil work, as well as erection & commissioning activities. The project is scheduled to run commercially in 60 months.

Earlier, the PSU Company said that it had received a Rs 7,500 crore order from the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GESCL) for an EPS package for 1x800 MW Ukai Extension Unit 7 in the Tapi District of Gujarat.

Shares of BHEL are trading 2.7% higher on Friday at Rs 219.72. The stock has surged around 20% over the last one month. The dividend yield is at 0.12% as of the December quarter.
