AP NGEL HARIT AMRIT LIMITED, a new joint venture, has been incorporated by NTPC Green Energy Limited. On February 6, 2025, the business was formally registered as a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC Green Energy Limited and the government-owned New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited.

The newly established business will concentrate on creating renewable energy projects up to 25 GW in capacity, such as solar, wind, and hybrid electricity, with or without storage.

It also seeks to produce 0.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually (MMTPA) together with its byproducts, including green methanol and green ammonia. Another key objective is the development of pumped hydro storage projects with a capacity of up to 10 GW at identified locations in Andhra Pradesh.

The formation of this joint venture was approved by the Ministry of Power (MoP), Government of India, with concurrence from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) and NITI Aayog. The approval was granted on December 5, 2024. 

NTPC Green Energy Limited has subscribed to 50,000 equity shares at a face value of Rs 10 each. The investment was made through cash consideration, and NGEL holds a 50% stake in the company.

The joint venture aligns with India’s goal of achieving a sustainable and low-carbon energy future by promoting large-scale renewable energy deployment in Andhra Pradesh.
