CMRL awarded L & T for telecom system

New Delhi: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has selected Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) to provide a telecommunications system for Corridor 4 of its Phase-II project. The contract was signed by CMRL's Director of Systems and Operations, Thiru. Rajesh Chaturvedi, and Thiru. Raghavendran Murali, Head Communication, Smart World & Communication Business Unit, L&T valued at INR 99 Crores.

In this agreement, L&T will undertake the installation and implementation of the telecommunications system across 27 stations and 1 depot. The system will include an optical fiber network, passenger information displays, public address systems, CCTV surveillance, and access control systems. These features will enable effective control and monitoring of train operations from the Operational Control Centre (OCC).

The contract signing ceremony was attended by Thiru. A. Sankaramurthi, Deputy Advisor S&T, Thiru. C. Murugamoorthy, Team Leader, GC, Thiru. S. Jayakumar, Project Manager, L&T, and senior officials from CMRL and Larsen & Toubro Limited.

The telecommunications system will be a critical component of Corridor 4, which is expected to be completed in 2025. The system will ensure the safe and efficient operation of trains, and will also provide passengers with real-time information about their journey.

The contract signing marks a significant milestone in the development of Corridor 4, and is a testament to the strong partnership between CMRL and L&T.
