The Ministry of Coal is continuing all efforts to further enhance coal production and dispatch to meet the increasing power demand in the country due to sustained economic growth and also the seasonal factors.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Power, India adjured the Coal Ministry to cope up the Coal India and its arm SCCL to raise the output for the power sectors by at least 10 percent to 12 percent in the current financial year to avoid power blackout.
According to the sources, there has been informal communication between the ministry. The formal necessary communication on this matter is to be placed soon.
Recently the Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi Reviewed coal production and despatch of coal companies Central Coalfields Limited & SECL. Apart from this he also took stock of the subsidiary-wise coal offtake plan and emphasised timely supply to thermal power plants.
Moreover, the total coal despatches (including non-CIL coal-producing units) have been to the tune of 71.77 MT for the entire month of April 2022 registering a growth of 9.39% on a year-on-year basis. The total coal production in the country has increased to 67 Million Tonnes (MT) in April 2022 registering an impressive growth of 29.80%.
