BHEL, IIT Madras to jointly developed Municipal Solid Waste incinerator system
This Municipal Solid Waste Combustor Pilot Plant is based on a first-of-its-kind ‘Rotary Furnace Technology’ to efficiently process unsegregated Solid Waste.
New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), and IIT Madras have jointly developed and deployed a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) incinerator system using an indigenously designed, first-of-its-kind rotary combustor. Incorporating a 100 kW Waste Heat Recovery Boiler and emission control systems.
The unique 1 Ton/day capacity MSW incinerator system has been designed by IIT Madras under the Ucchatar Avishkaar Yojana (UAY) Project of GoI and locally built and erected at BHEL’s Trichy unit.
This Municipal Solid Waste Combustor Pilot Plant is based on a first-of-its-kind ‘Rotary Furnace Technology’ to efficiently process unsegregated Solid Waste.
The plant is rated to dispose of up to 1 Ton of MSW per day and capable of generating process steam. Notably, this system is capable of handling waste with high moisture content up to 40-50%.
