Defense stock, BEML LTD. Limited has signed a contract with Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to supply 70 driverless 3-car metro trains, comprising 210 cars, valued at Rs 3,657.53 crore. The agreement was formalized by Shri M.A. Siddique, Managing Director, CMRL, and Shri Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Director (Rail & Metro), BEML, along with senior officials from both organizations.

As part of the contract, the first trainset will be delivered to the Madhavaram depot by the end of 2026, with extensive testing and integration to follow. Deliveries of subsequent trainsets will continue through to 2029.

These advanced metro trains, designed for Unattended Train Operation (UTO), represent a leap forward in efficiency, safety, and passenger convenience. This partnership marks another milestone in BEML's commitment to revolutionizing India's metro infrastructure and contributing to sustainable urban transport solutions.
