Indranil Bhattacharyya appointed as new Executive Director of RBI
Indranil Bhattacharyya as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India will supervise the Division of Economic and Policy Research.

Indranil Bhattacharyya has been named as Executive Director (ED) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with effective from 19 March, 2025. He will supervise the Division of Economic and Policy Research. Bhattacharyya was an Adviser in the Monetary Policy Department before to this post.
He has almost thirty years of expertise in banking, international economic relations, fiscal and monetary policies. He has worked for the RBI in the International Department, Department of Economic and Policy Research, and Monetary Policy Department.

Bhattacharyya worked for Qatar Central Bank as an Economic Expert in the Technical Office between 2009 and 2014. Jawahralal Nehru University in New Delhi earned him a postgraduate degree in economics.
Monetary theory, financial markets, market microstructure, and fiscal policy are his areas of research interests. RBI also named Ajit Ratnakar Joshi ED to supervise the Financial Stability Department and the Department of Statistics and Information Management earlier this month.
