Coal India onboards three members as Non-Official Independent Directors
Coal India Ltd has announced the appointment of three Non-official Independent Directors of the Board, Shri Bhojarajan Rajeshchander, Shri Punambhai Kalabhai Makwana, Shri Kamesh Kant Acharya and Smt. Mamta Palariya. The Tenure of the appointment is one year with effect from the date of notification of the re- appointment or until further orders.
Here to Know the Brief Profile of Each:
Shri B. Rajesh Chander: Prior to this he was serving as Independent Director in Coal India Limited board from 2nd November' 2021 till 1st Nov’ 2024. Shri Rajesh Chander is an Engineering graduate from Sri Jaychamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore. Shri Rajesh Chander has served as Chairman of Coimbatore Tea Traders Association during the period 2015 to 2017. He is also Vice-chairman of Tea Board of India. He was also a member of Board of Governor of Lawrence School, Lovedale (under Ministry of Education). He does not hold any shares of Coal India Ltd.
Shri Punambhai Kalabhai Makwana : Prior to this he was serving as Independent Director in Coal India Limited board from 2nd November' 2021 till 1st Nov’ 2024. He is a Bachelor in Science from 1978. At present he is an Industrialist and Agriculturist. He has been Executive Member of National Scheduled Caste Morcho, B.J.P, President of Gujarat Senva and Ravat Vikas Sangh and Executive Member of B.J.P Gujarat State. He was Director in Gujarat State Handloom Dev. Corporation from 1998 to 2002 and Director in Gujarat State Nasabandhi Board from 1982 to 1988.

CA Kamesh Kant Acharya: Prior to this he was serving as Independent Director in Coal India Limited board from 3rd November' 2021 till 1st Nov’ 2024. CA. Kamesh Kant Acharya is a fellow member (FCA) of "The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India”. He is also a Law Graduate (LL.B.) from Law Faculty, Delhi University.
Smt. Mamta Palariya: She holds master’s degree, Bachelor degree and LLB from Kumaun University.She is an Advocate by profession and has been practising in Civil Court, Haldwani (Uttarakhand) since 1986.She was an Independent Director in Bharat Wagon and Engineering Company Ltd (2017-2020)and ITI Limited(2021-2024).She does not hold any shares of Coal India Limited.
